- HIMNO DE AUSTRALIA

- HISTORIA:
El Himno Nacional de Australia fue compuesto por Peter Dodds McCormick a fines del Siglo XIX, con el título en latin "Amicus" (Amigo). Se interpretó por primera vez el Día de San Andrés en 1878. El himno tiene varias versiones. A lo largo de los años han habido muchos cambios en los versos, como la primera frase original que fue "Australia's sons let us rejoice" y que se reemplazó por "Australians all let us rejoice". Otros cambios se efectuaron en otros de los versos.
Con motivo de la Olimpiadas de 1956, realizadas en Melbourne, se propusieron "Advance Australia Fair" y "Waltzing Matilda" compuesta en 1895. En 1977 una consulta popular en la que participaron 7 millones de personas, dio como resultado "Advance Australia Fair" con 43.2%, "Waltzing Matilda" 28.3%, "God Save the Queen" 18.7% y "Song of Australia" 9.6%.
En abril de 1984 el Gobernador General proclamó a "Advance Australia Fair" como Himno Nacional de Australia y el Himno de Gran Bretaña, "God Save the Queen" como Himno Real, a ser interpretado en ceremonias en las que asistiera la Reina o miembros de la Familia Real.

While other nations of the globe

Shou'd foreign foe e'er sight our coast,
